Philippines is one of the most beautiful countries because of its rich natural resources. Aside from that, the country has been blessed by the happiest people on earth, the Filipinos.
What make Philippines unique are their authentic and the most delicious foods, most especially being prepared on the special occasions, like birthdays, fiestas, family gatherings and etc.

With this, here are the top foods that you would say, “It’s more fun eating in the Philippines”.

10Afritada

This rich dish is cooked in pieces of chicken or pork, in tomato sauce along with carrots, potatoes and bell peppers.  This is also a favorite of everybody because of its flavorful sauce.

9Lumpia

A must have on occasions! it is made with thin crepe pastry skin called "lumpia wrapper" enveloping a mixture of savoury fillings, consists of chopped vegetables (carrots, cabbages, green beans, bamboo shoots and leeks) or sometimes also minced meat (chicken, shrimp, pork or beef). This can be an enjoyable snack best paired with cold drinks.

8Chicken Inasal

The Chicken Inasal is a famous Visayan chicken barbecue that originated from Bacolod City in the Philippines. To make chicken inasal, the marinated chicken pieces basted with achuete or annato oil that creates its yellowish color is charcoal-grilled to juicy perfection. This is a tasty one that you shouldn’t forget to take a bite.

7Sisig

This Kapampangan recipe which is made of the pig’s head and liver, marinated in a sour liquid such as lemon juice or vinegar, then seasoned with salt, pepper and other spices. This is heavenly so you must not miss this in your tables.

6Hamon de Bola

Christmas is fast approaching! Never forget this tempting one. Hamon is one of the favorite food being prepared during holiday season. They are cooked in a special sweet broth usually in syrup, spices, and fruit juices after being wet cured. Then, the ham is scored, glazed, and roasted or baked.

5Pansit

This stir-fried noodle dish is prepared with rice noodles with soy sauce some citrus, possibly with patis, and some variation of sliced meat and chopped vegetables. According to Nancy Reyes Lumen of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, noodles represent long life and good health, that’s why this is best prepared on birthdays.

4Kaldereta

This appetizing dish is made with goat meat that is stewed with vegetables and a liver paste. Vegetables may include tomatoes, potatoes, olives, bell peppers and hot peppers. Variations of the dish use beef, chicken or pork. So much delectable when best paired with rice. Yummy!

3Kare-Kare

The occasion is not complete without this scrumptious dish, most especially on the tables in the Pampanga region, wherein this is prepared especially on fiestas. Kare-kare is a stew complimented with a thick savory peanut sauce. It is made from a base of stewed oxtail (sometimes this is the only meat used), pork hocks, calves feet, pig feet, beef stew meat, and occasionally offal or tripe, then added with vegetables including eggplant, cabbage, and beans and flavored with ground roasted peanuts, or peanut butter, onions  and garlic. Best served with bagoong alamang or sautéed salted shrimp paste.

2Adobo

This another popular dish would make your mouths water. This dish that is a marinade of vinegar, soy sauce and garlic but some will include onions, black pepper and pineapples, and some add vegetables, in which meats such as pork, chicken, beef or shrimps are marinated. Then these marinated meats are cooked in oil.

1Lechon

Meat lovers, come on over. This popular food is a favorite of everybody. Lechon is a whole roasted that is cooked over charcoal. Savor its juicy, and the tenderness of the meat, and of course, its super crispy skin, which been the most distinctive feature of the dish.
